(Up to Schemes)
In Kaos Normal Shot Doesn't End Turn is ON.

Kaos is a RubberWorm scheme with the features shot doesn't end turn, loss of control doesn't end turn, fire doesn't pause timer and originally craterate was set to 7 along with a cratelimit of 200; where players start only with bungee and worm select. The goal is to collect as many crates as possible and "smash" the opponent in the limited turn time. Scheme has turned on Stockpiling by default, so weapons and utilties pass to next round. Craterate may be raised for faster gameplay.

Tips and tactics

Arrows-minigun trick (Weapon Use Doesn't End Turn)
  • A common tactic is to surrender when you have only one worm left that cannot have access to crates while the opponent can get many crates. Without surrendering, next round the enemy would have enormous advantage from previous round, since the weapons collected are kept each new round.
  • In Kaos, it's possible to fire many arrows very fast. This allows players to do the Arrows-minigun trick: a worm can be damaged 2 or more times by the arrows in fractions of second, launching it further than usual.
  • In Kaos, it's possible to make multiple grenades explode at the same time. If timed well, the grenades can launch a worm very, very far.
  • Boomraceing (hitting your owm worm being controled to access a higher area that wouldn't be possible to reach via jumps) is very useful in Kaos, specially when you want to save or you don't have ammo for transport tools.
  • Save Battle Axe for worms that got many health crates. More commonly, the axe is used to initiate an attack on a worm (focused on killing this worm on that same turn) with good amount of health (sometimes the initial health). It's common to see two axes being used in a row in the same worm.
  • Bungee is infinite and can be used to launch your worm far away, or climb highr areas. The opportunities to do this are limited and very situational, though.
  • Collecting crates is something very important in this scheme, but it's also important to attack saving ammo and time. A good Kaos players will have to think fast, including B or C plans in case an attack fails or something unexpected happened.
  • Animal weapons that move after being dropped are useful to collect crates. Moles and Skunks are often used for this purpose only, since they are weak weapons in most of the situations.
  • Sometimes, it is better to create a plop hole before pushing a worm to the bottom. There are weapons that push the worms upwards when they explode (example Sheep, HHG), and the worm may escape from drowning.
  • Girders are useful to climb the map, defend worms from attacks or to block a worm, being very useful to impede it to collect crates, more especifically when it ran out of digging tools or transport tools. So, this worm will loose time, damage himself, and spend other weapons to free itself.

Different gameplay styles

The way people play Kaos changed through time. These different gameplay styles are reunited below.

Eras

According to Dream, currently there are 3 main eras. These eras don't mean people stopped playing older versions or other variations.

Kaos Normal

with lacoste, Electro, Cinek and darekols
Download · Info

The original version of the scheme, played mainly from 2009 to 2013. It uses all utilities of the game, including Damage x2. It's the most chaotic version for many players.

Kaos Pro

The version created with competitive scenario in mind, balancing the settings for tactical purposes and for pro players. Damage x2, for example, was condemned. Players used to play this version from 2014 to 2020.

v3.8's Kaos League

After the release of v3.8 and its Extended Scheme Options, "Kaos Pro" was updated with the new features and since it now doesn't require anymore the instalation of wkRubberWorm to play, it was played online more often again. This version stripped off many strong super weapons, teleport and limited probabilities of certain stronger weapons (regular weapons are more used now). This version is being played since 2021.

Custom PNG maps

Kaos is also played on custom specially designed PNG maps made by the players.

Regular Size Kaos

Specially designed map (examples)

Kaos played on custom 1920 x 696 maps (regular size). Either using "Kaos Normal" scheme or custom versions of the scheme.

Big Kaos

Maps bigger than the regular size, usually with custom schemes.

PX Kaos

Maps designed for Project X schemes.

History

WO icon

Originally named Kaos Normal, the scheme was created by MrKaos in the middle of 2009, being highly RubberWorm influenced (along with gravity modifications, sticky / bouncy mode, etc). Shortly after creation, the development of the scheme took a more competitive route, by the hands of DreamTrance, in early 2010. In 2011, a community called Kaos fans (Kf) was created on TUS. Some versions of Kaos were created for Project X and its exclusive custom weapons.

Competitive events

Kaos received tournaments hosted on TUS from 2011 to 2012 and cups from 2011 to 2017. On WO, Kaos was featured in all years from 2010 to 2016.

The competitive-oriented versions by Dream received some events in 2010-2011, 2014-2015 and since 2021 there's a dedicated Discord server to the official Kaos League. "Kaos Pro" was selected to be the official TUS Free League Kaos scheme, being the first and only RubberWorm scheme to appear among the main TUS leagues.
