Map
Specially designed map (examples: [1], [2], [3], [4])
Worms
Free for all (recommended):

- 1vs1vs1 (recommended)
- 1vs1vs1vs1
- 2vs2vs2
- etc.

One worm per player.

Games in formats that are not free for all (like 1vs1) are not recommended, but they might work.

Parachute Game, Chute Game, Chutewar or Catch The Pixel is a tactical combat race (similarly to the old Battle Race scheme) that is played on an almost empty bordered destructible map, with a flat ground, where it is impossible to plop the infinite health worms. It is usually played in free for all format (like 1vs1vs1).

Players start off by teleporting their worm on starting point, and then race through the map until reaching the finishing point (the pixel). As there are no objects or place for hiding on the map other than the start and finish point - the only exception being when the map has a special rule saying that players can stay on top of some objects, like the palm trees of this map - players must build a way with girders to navigate through the map, often with the aid of the Parachute. The player to stay on top of the pixel first wins the game.

Rules

  • If you touch the ground teleport back to start - Teleport usage is restricted for going back to start (using it to move forward is not allowed).
  • Do not attack from the ground.
  • Atacking from start or attacking to start is not allowed - Girders can be used from start if there is no ideal wind.
  • Trapping is not allowed - At least one way must be open.
  • The first player which stay one turn at the dot wins - The other players have one turn to knock off the lead.
  • Teaming up is forbidden - If teaming up is detected, the players who teamed up lose the game (by "teaming up", interpret as: long term friendship between two players in the game. Apart from that, players might help each other by placing girders in critical situations).

Note: In any case of destroying the finishing point the leading player can build a new finishing point with bows at the upper right corner.

Tips and tactics

  • Be aware of the Wind generation according to the position of the worms on the map. Once the start is often at the top left corner, the wind is usually strong to the other direction (usually to the right, where the pixel is). So, a worm starting its turn at the start will most likely go very far on the map using parachute if there are girders available to land (or if the player places the girder in mid air, while parachuting).
  • After moving on the map, during the last seconds, choose wisely from these two options: delay worms (either attacking or using girders) or advance (either using girders or "boomracing"). Sometimes pushing enemy worms is risky and not worthy, sometimes progressing can be risky if an enemy worm can be easily dropped to the bottom (forcing it to tele back to start).

Date and autorship

The precise date of this scheme is uncertain, but there is a .BIT map of this scheme that is most likely the original map whose author name is not written on it. This map was obtained from one of the replays Albino has on his computer, one of them dating 6th November 2006. According to the the chat of this 22nd June 2007 replay, available on this section and provided by Albino, ShyGuy says at 18:13 that the scheme was created by Squiffel, the same file name that is shown on this map page.

Name

This scheme is called "Parachute Game" or "Chute Game" by some players (according to this map upload and Albino: see the scheme page he created on TUS), but there are very similar maps (probably the same scheme) on WMDB that calls it "Catch The Pixel" and this map, uploaded on TUS by Albino, which was saved on his computer as "god2k-chutewar" ("Chutewar").

Girder Battle Race

It is not clear which scheme is older, Parachute Game or Girder Battle Race (example maps: [5] and [6]), but both are combat races that use girders to navigate through the map. Parachute Game has a .BIT map, while Girder Battle Race might have only .PNG maps, with the oldest map upload on WMDB dating 13th June 2006.

Similar names

The following schemes are completely different from Parachute Game, but they have a similar name.

Parachute Battle

This very old scheme called "Parachute Battle" was created by Red Wraith. It is a battle scheme played on a special map that is relatively similar to BnA ones. It has rules. Sources: Net-Baustelle.de, Net-Baustelle.de 2, Net-Baustelle.de 3.

AHIAZ's Parachute Battle

This scheme created in 2013 by AHIAZ is also called "Parachute Battle", this time being a conventional gameplay-like scheme, with a rule: Low Gravity before attack. It is a battle scheme that encourages the use of Parachute, since the land retreat time is zero and from parachute the retreat is 10 seconds.
