Supersheeper, not to be confused with the Sheeper scheme, is a scheme where the Super Sheep (or Aqua Sheep) is the only available weapon. Players are provided with no other weapons, or just transport tools.

Map
Any convoluted island map (often a solid block with tunnels, or an inverted dual-layer cavern). Bigger maps tend to be better, though there is a limit to how far a Super Sheep can fly.
Worms
As many as possible

Played on random island maps, players must use the Super Sheep to attack their opponents.

Settings for this scheme can vary considerably, but the scheme usually provides no other weapons except for transport tools such as the Teleport.

Settings that may vary include:

  • whether worms have infinite health (God Mode);
  • whether worms are anchored;
  • how much time is provided;
  • whether the Aqua Sheep upgrade is enabled;
  • whether crates are provided.
  • whether additional tools are provided, like Teleports and Select Worm.

If crates are enabled, collecting them using the Super Sheep becomes a valuable move. Depending on the specific crate settings, these crates can:

  • provide explosive hazards if set to contain sheep (which then detonate on the terrain when the crate is exploded)
  • provide health
  • provide utilities
  • provide additional weapons which can then be used instead of the Super Sheep

Although there is often little strategy involved in the scheme, flying the Super Sheep can require a great deal of skill, especially when navigating narrow parts of the map.

There are no rules.

The scheme is supported by HostingBuddy.

Strategy

The principle strategy of SuperSheeper is deciding where an explosion will provide the greatest advantage, and then getting the Super Sheep to that location. Depending on the specific scheme settings, some of these strategies can be useful:

  • Aim to drown worms. Even when godmode is not in play, drowning worms is usually the most effective way to get ahead. Try to pick vulnerable worms off before your opponent has a chance to move them.
  • Move your vulnerable worms. As a corollary to the above, you will want to keep your worms safe from potential drownings. If teleports are available, use them. If you have Select Worm and the move seems urgent, use that too to save the most vulnerable. Sometimes the only way to move a worm is to nudge it into a safer position using a Super Sheep - this can be risky and costs an opportunity to attack the enemy, but might still be worth it in the long run.
  • Grab well-defended locations. The best place for a worm to be is in a cave with a narrow entrance, where it's easy to get a Super Sheep out but near-impossible to fly one in. If the scheme allows for movement, try and grab these spots before your enemy does.
  • In a case of mutually-assured destruction, out-pace your enemy in health crate collection. A round can sometimes end with all your worms piled with all the enemy worms, in which case you have to attack yourself to kill your opponent. Surviving this requires having more health, so if health crates are available, prioritise collecting them - especially with your strongest worm.

History

The origins of the scheme are unknown, but a very similar scheme was occasionally played in 2002 or earlier, sometimes under the name Sheep Wars (according to this archive page, there was a Sheep Wars scheme upload on 28th August 2000). It may have been played on maps edited in-game or certain BnG maps, although Bloopy released a map for it at the beginning of 2003. The scheme's main difference at the time was that the terrain is indestructible, emphasizing the need to navigate sheep through the narrow sections of the maps.

Competitive events

Tournaments

In 2006 it was included in that year's Worm Olympics under the title of "Sheeper". It was featured in the 2016 Worm Olympics under the title of "SuperSheeper". A variation called "Sheep Heaven" was also featured in the 2006 WO (the main difference is that it has other sheep weapons, specially French Sheep Strike).

Cups

The scheme received cups on The Ultimate Site in the years 2021, 2022 (under the name "Aquasheeper") and 2023 (cave version).

Leagues

Since 21th July 2023, Supersheeper is part of the TUS Free League (TFL).
