One per player (up to 6 players)
Climb the pixels only by walking at the beginning.

The Hunger Worms is a RubberWorm scheme inspired by the series The Hunger Games, that has books and movies, and can be considered a wormy adaptation.

Each player has one single worm and must take good care of it. There are 6 starting platforms, players choose one to begin (Start at Start). On the original map, there is a "grade of pixels" that the worms need to climb at the very beginning of the game, since no crates will spawn on these pixels, except if they be destroyed. These pixels are organized in a manner that the worms can go up only by walking on them. At the outset, everyone have only their fists (Fire Punch) for the battle. There will be no damage by using it, but it can be used to open paths on the map. Players may choose to "arm quickly in the central cornucopia or run into the woods and gather a godsend".

"...May the odds be never ever in your favour and... Let the murders games begin!"

Objective

Kill or be killed until only 1 is left, the surviving winner.

Rules

Except by the Start at Start rule, there are no other rules in this scheme.

Start at Start: each player must place its worm at one of the 6 platforms.

Settings

RubberWorm features:

  • sdet
  • fdpt
  • crateshower
  • craterate (2)
  • cratelimit (255)
  • kaosmod #3

There are no Super Weapons in this scheme.

Tactics

Some of the tactics written below are similar to Kaos and Only Crates tactics.

  • Be patient. Collect good arsenal before engaging on a fight. Avoid going straight to the cornucopia to start attacking with few supply of weapons. This may lead you to run out of weapons early in the game, and become an easy target there.
  • In the beginning, destroying map parts to prevent others from reaching you, can give you some additional time/turns to collect your own stuff.
  • Stay away from the edges. No matter how strong your worm could be, the risk of a nasty plop can ruin everything in a blink of an eye. Specially, stay out of a potential baseball bat range.
  • Find good covert or create your own. There could be air strikes at any moment.
  • Pay attention to the crate piles. As the game progresses, several areas will be filled up with crates. These can become a dangerous atomic bomb, causing lot of damage around.
  • Keep in mind the waterfalls (like in the real movie). Sudden Death is water rise, so the old "getting the higher ground" tactic applies here too.
  • Although making alliances to beat others is a recurring tactic in the movies, it would be better to avoid this here, since it would go against the traditional W:A spirit about  HF & GG.
  • Don't forget that despite Fire Punch's zero damage, it might become really handy in case you get stuck or need to open new ways. Even more if you don't have many other weapons/resources at your disposal.

History

On 9th August 2014, the author sbs released the original map along with the scheme on WMDB.
