It is similar to Hysteria, which has just 1 second of turn time, and its creation was only possible after a Beta update allowed much more flexible turn times. Aerial SD
A Sudden Death variation of Aerial was created and uploaded on TUS by Sensei on 7th October 2016, which sets the round time to 60 seconds and flooding to medium. This variation was added to HostingBuddy's schemes on 3rd January 2021.
History
The description found in the TUS upload of the scheme by HHC in 2010 mentions that Aerial was "based on the PlayStation scheme 'Aerial', though thoroughly edited". Worms Armageddon was released for the PlayStation in November 1999. According to an archive page of The Page of Light website, the PlayStation original Aerial scheme had 45 seconds of turn time, no Bazookas, X3 ropes and Infinite Grenade and Jet Pack.
Competitive events
The scheme has featured consistently in competitions, featuring in most years of the Worm Olympics from 2012 to when it ended in 2016, and in cups and tournaments hosted on The Ultimate Site between 2012 and 2018.
