Although very similar with Aerial, Petrolia was based on Hysteria and Team17. The battle scheme consists in two seconds of turn time, many health (+5 HP) and sometimes weapon crates spawning on the map, anchor mode, infinite 5-powered Petrol Bomb, Jet Pack, Low Gravity and Teleport; fast water-rising Sudden Death after 1 minute and the only rule: AFJ - Attack From Jet Pack (even using weapons like Air Strike or Teleport, it is necessary to activate Jet Pack first). The map type is open island (just like Aerial or Hysteria) and the number of worms is 8 per player (at least in 1v1).

Competitive events

The scheme has featured in competitions, featuring in the Worm Olympics every year from 2010 to 2016 (except 2014). It also has featured in cups (2012 and 2015) and a closed tournament (2012) hosted on The Ultimate Site.
