Some keys have specific purposes when using specific weapons and tools. These are listed on the respective weapon pages which can be found here.

Keyboard controls

Note: Some keyboards have limits on how many and which buttons may be pressed simultaneously. If you find that the game does not recognize some key presses when you hold down some buttons, you may need to change your keyboard or use a key remapper.

Key Purpose
Left/Right Moves selected worm in respective direction.
Shift + Left/Right Forces worm to face one direction when moving.
Shift or Middle Mouse Button Speeds up mouse cursor movement in-game by a factor of 4 when used separately or by a factor of 16 when used together.
Right Mouse Button Opens and closes the weapon panel.
Up/Down Adjusts aim for selected weapon in respective direction.
Spacebar Fires or activates selected weapon.
Tab Selects next worm on team when Worm Select is active.
Enter Causes selected worm to perform a forward jump.
Enter, Enter Causes selected worm to perform a backjump.
Backspace Causes selected worm to jump vertically.
Backspace, Backspace Causes selected worm to perform a backflip.
Backspace, Enter Causes selected worm to perform a backjump.
Backspace, Backspace, Enter Causes selected worm to perform a small backflip (identical to backjump in all but animation).
F1 - F12 Cycle through available weapons in weapon groups when selecting a weapon.
` or ~ Cycles through available utilities (by default, the key between Escape, Tab and 1 on all keyboard layouts).
Pause/Break Takes a screenshot (saved in Capture folder), also works in the front-end.
Alt + Pause Saves a snapshot of the current state of the map. Map snapshots are saved in PNG format, are named mapNNNN.png and are stored in User\SavedLevels\Capture under your main W:A folder. (introduced in v3.8)
Shift + Escape Minimize the game, also works in the front-end.
Insert Cycles background graphics.
Home Centres view on active worm.
Ctrl + Home Locks the view on the active worm permanently; disable by pressing Home again.
Scroll Lock Toggles camera to automatically follow things.
Ctrl + Scroll Lock On top of preventing the camera from automatically following things, also prevents mouse movement doing it; disable by disabling Scroll Lock.
Page Up/Page Down Hides/reveals chat window respectively.
Ctrl + Up/Down Resizes the chat window when open.
Ctrl + Page Up/Page Down Unlocks/locks the chat window open.
Delete Cycle through above-worm information displays.
Alt + Delete Toggle opacity of above-worm information displays.
Shift + Delete Toggles autohide for team status bar.
T Displays thought bubble above selected worm.
R Replays the last shot (when pressed immediately afterwards). Some of the replay controls (listed below) are enabled.
Weapon-specific controls
- Set on Min Bounce (for Grenades and Cluster Bombs).
+ Set on Max Bounce (for Grenades and Cluster Bombs).
1 - 5 Set fuse (for weapons with an adjustable fuse). With "RubberWorm extended fuses/herds", 1 - 0 is supported (where 0 is 0 seconds).
1 - 5 Set Mad Cow herd size. With "RubberWorm extended fuses/herds", 1 - 0 is supported (where 0 is 10 cows).
Additional controls during Replay Playback and Instant Replays
Spacebar Fast-forwards to the start of the next turn or to the end of an instant replay.
M Sets a 'bookmark' in the current replay. Restarting playback will cause it to start from this point.
R Restart the replay from the beginning or from the bookmark set with the M key. (instant replays supported since v3.8)
Shift + R Removes any bookmark that might have been set. (instant replays supported since v3.8)
S Pauses playback, or advances one frame at a time if already paused.
1 - 9 Sets faster playback speeds. The keys 1 - 9 correspond to speeds of 1×, 1.5×, 2×, 3×, 4×, 6×, 8×, 12×, and 16×.
0 + [1 - 9] Sets even faster playback speeds. When 0 is held down, the keys 1 - 9 correspond to speeds of 24×, 32×, 48×, 64×, 96×, 128×, 192×, 256×, and 384×.
Shift + [1 - 9] Sets slow-motion playback speeds. When Shift is held down, the keys 1 - 9 correspond to speeds of 1×, 2/3×, 1/2×, 1/3×, 1/4×, 1/6×, 1/8×, 1/12× and 1/16×.
Shift + 0 + [1 - 9] Sets even slower playback speeds. When 0 is held down, the keys 1 - 9 correspond to speeds of 1/24×, 1/32×, 1/48×, 1/64×, 1/96×, 1/128×, 1/192×, 1/256×, and 1/384×. (introduced in v3.8)

Shift + Alt + Delete Toggles the displaying of extra information that would normally be hidden in a live game (except allied chat, invisible worms and weapon panel for all alliances). (introduced in v3.8)
