There are several tricks or manouvers (they have names) that can be done with the rope. They are called simply Rope tricks.
A good way to practice using the Ninja Rope is the Crazy Crates training.
Trick Race and Trick Before Attack are examples of schemes that "force" players to execute specific tricks. This page is specially useful for playing these schemes, but rope tricks are useful for any scheme that uses the rope, including Warmer (let's highlight this one), Roper, Rope Race, WxW, or even Intermediate. It can be used as reference to learn about any rope trick of this game, with gifs, replays, definitions and descriptions.

Basic tricks
The following tricks are considered core tricks, the fundamental tricks that make up the complex and advanced ones.
Drop/Fall
A Drop is, as the name suggests, a useful rope trick to get a worm to a lower part of the map by dropping it.
- Maintaining the rope at a more horizontal angle before the release will yiled a more favorable firing angle for the next rope shot.
- Having less momentum before the drop will ensure a safer fall.
Shadow
Shadows are a variation of the standard drops. A Shadow is performed by quickly press the firing key three times before a standard drop; once to release the rope, once to reattach the rope to the ceiling and once to release the rope again.
- Unlike standard drops, Shadows allow you to fire the rope in the opposite direction after the fall, useful in situations where it is safer/more advantageous to do so.
- Additionally, unlike standard drops, you don't have to wait for the worm's momentum to stop; pressing the firing key three times will effectively stop any horizontal momentum, providing a quicker way to drop your worm.
