Worms Reinforcements was an expansion released in 1996 for the PC MS-DOS version of Worms. The expansion adds a number of features that are new to the series and would go on to become staples of future releases, including:

* Retreat time

* Health crates

* Booby-trapped crates

* Utility crates

* A single-player campaign (called "Challenge Mode")

The expansion also added a single new weapon to the game - the original Mole Bomb, which was a Cluster Bomb-like grenade with shrapnel that dug into the terrain. The weapon did not appear in future games. Additionally, changes were made to existing weapons - Dynamite could now be aimed and thrown (albeit with less force than a grenade), and a 45-degree aiming option was added to the Kamikaze. Of these changes, only the aimable Kamikaze was retained for future games, though from Worms 2 onward Dynamite would always be dropped with a little forward momentum, as opposed to straight down as in Worms.

Visually, the game is more-or-less identical, albeit with the in-game font changed from a yellow military stencil to a more solid font with a green gradient. The HUD was updated to appear more war-torn, and with the addition of a yellow + next to the logo. The changes to the HUD were not kept when the expansion was bundled with the base game, though this HUD would appear in pre-release screenshots of Worms: The Director's Cut.

Worms Reinforcements was an expansion released in 1996 for the PC MS-DOS version of Worms. The expansion adds a number of features that are new to the series and would go on to become staples of future releases, including:

 • Retreat time
 • Health crates
 • Booby-trapped crates
 • Utility crates
 • Timed mines
 • A single-player campaign (called "Challenge Mode")
 • Team-specific customization settings, e.g. soundbanks and graves
 • Full-color maps
 • Additional terrain styles, such as "Graveyard", "War", and "Money"

In 1997, Team17 and MicroProse released Worms United, which bundled the base game with this expansion in a single package. This release is the version now found on Steam and GOG.com.
