Um, is this another category duplicating the functionality of ParentArticle? --Vladimir 10:40, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- IMHO, the category system in MediaWiki is more than just showing "parent articles". For example, I can make a dynamic list of pages quickly like the one in Community#People; people can also search something inside a category... etc.
- I guess you may see this article for what a category can do. Thanks --Explorer09 12:53, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- I still don't see how their benefits outweigh the visual clutter at the bottom of every page. I have nothing against __HIDDENCAT__ categories, though. --Vladimir 13:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- OK, if you don't like it, then I'll hide it anyway. --Explorer09 13:49, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- BTW, you said that you don't like the visual clutter. May I suggest hiding them using the CSS? I mean, you can add the following to the CSS of the default skin:
.catlinks { display: none; }
- This should solve the problem. --Explorer09 14:02, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Obsolete
- Nevermind, CS. You can delete this category. I now think it is not as useful as I have said before. --Explorer09 12:44, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
