Gliding is a glitch caused by a bug in the game's collision code. Sometimes, when an object is moving diagonally down and left and hits the edge of an obstacle, it will not "collide", but its velocity will be altered so the collision will no longer happen.
Glides are rarely encountered during normal play (unless the map is thus designed), however multiple consecutive glides are theoretically possible (see replay). The only theoretical limit to the number of consecutive glides is the initial velocity and map size.
This glitch can optionally be disabled using Extended Scheme Options.
