Unlimited Map

I don't think that is possible. Unless somebody reply to this, i'm going to delete/edit it in the following days. --ArcBeetle 15:14, 1 April 2007 (EEST)

Course it would be possible. Quite difficult to program and play, yes, but not impossible. It would either have to be randomly generated with the same seed for all players as it goes along, or repeated... but it could easily be possible. --Muzer 19:39, 2 April 2007 (EEST)
It's possible in some games to have rooms that carry on forever. I played an adventure game where the camera was in the centre of a circular room, and so you could walk to the left or right forever, and the objects and background and so on would keep repeating.
It'd be difficult for a game like this. You'd need to have a way that basically joins the edges together perfectly. Not only that, but you have destructable landscapes, and need to get that to cross over perfectly. Even if it were possible to "split the camera" so that when you reach the edge the camera just shows the other edge of the playing field to look like it continues, you would have problems like the textures fitting together properly and so on. Objects could just "teleport" to the opposite end of the map when they reach the edge.
So it's not easy, but I doubt it's impossible. Is it worth the effort? Well, that's debatable.--Melon 22:39, 2 April 2007 (EEST)
but if the map size is constantly increasing, and so the number of objects, and the game must also store the information of the objects(like coordinates),and the destroyed land, wouldn't it require too many cpu power? --ArcBeetle 13:22, 3 April 2007 (EEST)

Animation

Why not use animated .png's instead of .gif's? It's a new png-type format, much better then the old .gif's. According to the info it shouldn't be that complicated to code, most browsers support it allready. More info here [1] and here [2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Malevol3nt (talkcontribs)

If you consider browser market share, the most used browser (Internet Explorer) does not support this format. --Vladimir 13:46, 21 July 2008 (MST)

I was talking about the Map Editor and animation in 'worms unlimited', not websites. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Malevol3nt (talkcontribs) 02:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
