Adding screenshot?

I think this template could be better with the "screenshot" feature. The "mappic" does not resize the image to a small picture like the replaybox2. I'm trying to understand HTML better and some wiki info, so i'm asking for someone change this.

I was trying to edit the template, but i didn't do it because i think i would receive a lot of CAPITAL LETTERS and bad words. Sorry my small knoledge about those things, but what i tried to edit was this:

: [[:Image:{{{file|{{{1}}}}}}|View scheme settings]]</td></tr> {{#if:{{{map|}}}|{{Map example|isInTable=1|map={{{map}}}|wmdb={{{wmdb|}}}|screenshot={{{screenshot}}}|screensize={{{screensize|180px}}}|mappic={{{mappic|}}}|mappic-v={{{mappic-v|}}}}}}}

Am i right or it would be a stupid edition? FoxHound 23:29, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

The "mappic" was supposed to include a map example like this - in monochrome of course. I made that parameter and the image. If you just want to include a screenshot for your scheme, just put it on the scheme page like this. I guess you have gotten the idea. --Explorer09 13:23, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, i didn't know that the "|thumb|" could resize the image exactly like screen shot. But i didn't do this suggestion only for my scheme, i still think that would be nice to put "thumb" or "screenshot" in game setup template. I'm not saying that we need to substitute the "mappic" just add one more possibility. FoxHound 12:38, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I still don't get the idea of why you want to add the "screenshot" parameter. If what you wanted is just fixing the width of the "mappic", then I will suggest that you make the thumbnail for that. The image sizing feature in MediaWiki is not wise enough. For non-framed images, setting the width will force the image to stretch/contract to the desired width, even though the image was originally smaller than that. For framed images, it'll work as you expected. --Explorer09 22:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Scheme links are broken, with bugs or not working

All schemes of WKB seems to be impossible to download right now. A strange screen appears when trying to download a scheme. The only possible way I think is downloading a replay and extracting the scheme from it.--FoxHound (talk) 16:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Couple of ideas for this template

I think this template takes up a lot of vertical space (which is a problem on pages with variations, see Rope Race) so I'm gonna see about making it a little bit squatter. Also: worth adding indication of hostingbuddy support and the WSDB #id. I'll throw up a prototype later. Run! (talk) 08:10, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Ok, so I've done a template at User:Run!/sandbox. Some examples to right (obviously the title can be the name of the scheme, or scheme variation - here I'm describing the use of the template). Things I changed:
  • two columns to help make the template less tall
  • added hostingbuddy support
  • added wsdb id (despite these additions the template isn't any taller)
  • can now link to a wmdb category or search
  • makes Template:Scheme obsolete
  • makes Template:Map example obsolete
Any suggestions for tweaks welcome. Run! (talk) 12:55, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
I defend the idea (thinking in the future) that schemes should have a concept icon, as seen on TUS platform. It is different than an image ilustrating didatically how the scheme works. It is an icon that people would associate with the scheme easily, since humans are mainly oriented by sight as almost all creatures of our Order: Primates. Since the game itself does not have a space for an icon, an image to people easily see the scheme idea, understanding at least an apparent general concept of the scheme immediately (even without reading about it), people usually think the icon is something useless, it is foolishness of some people to add it on TUS. I think the game setup should also include a space for an optional scheme icon. I know that old schemes do not have icon and even new schemes don't have one, but I believe it would be an interesting feature. EDIT: I like the Worm Olympics icons (the medals) for the schemes too. The One has an icon with a worm with Sun Glasses (it is The One!), Hysteria has a worm with a scared face, etc.

It would be easy enough to change the template to accommodate icons, but it's quite a significant change in terms of content so you'd need consensus from some of the other editors. Where are you seeing the icons anyway, on TUS and WO? I can't find them. Run! (talk) 08:07, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
In Worm Olympics just click on a player name and see their medals. The images of the medals represent the schemes. They are scheme icons in my opinion. On TUS, just take a look on the schemes section, where people upload schemes. there are many pages with schemes, some of the schemes have icons. --FoxHound (talk) 09:46, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Well, icons aside, nobody's commenting on the new template so I'll finish doing my re-writes of scheme articles and then think about rolling this one out :P In the meantime i added a little mapgen tag for the map section. Run! (talk) 07:50, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
I thought about adding a section on Game Setup mentioning if the scheme has a TUS league version, and then link to the scheme download on TUS or to the TUS "leagues" page. I think TUS is very important to WA and a scheme that has a league version is very recognised. People would automatically know that the scheme is famous and competitive if it has a league version. Also, people that only care about "TUS schemes" and "TUS stuff" would pay more attention to this wiki. --FoxHound (talk) 08:53, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
I think that would be more suitable for the history section of each scheme page. Involvement of the scheme is various leagues is worth noting, but not in the game setup box. If the TUS version of a given scheme is particularly popular (like, overwhelmingly the one used on wormnet), then it should probably be uploaded here as the 'main' scheme. Run!
