Unlimited Map

I don't think that is possible. Unless somebody reply to this, i'm going to delete/edit it in the following days. ArcBeetle 15:14, 1 April 2007 (EEST)

Course it would be possible. Quite difficult to program and play, yes, but not impossible. It would either have to be randomly generated with the same seed for all players as it goes along, or repeated... but it could easily be possible. --Muzer 19:39, 2 April 2007 (EEST)

It's possible in some games to have rooms that carry on forever. I played an adventure game where the camera was in the centre of a circular room, and so you could walk to the left or right forever, and the objects and background and so on would keep repeating.

It'd be difficult for a game like this. You'd need to have a way that basically joins the edges together perfectly. Not only that, but you have destructable landscapes, and need to get that to cross over perfectly. Even if it were possible to "split the camera" so that when you reach the edge the camera just shows the other edge of the playing field to look like it continues, you would have problems like the textures fitting together properly and so on. Objects could just "teleport" to the opposite end of the map when they reach the edge.

So it's not easy, but I doubt it's impossible. Is it worth the effort? Well, that's debatable.--Melon 22:39, 2 April 2007 (EEST)
