Aerial is a scheme played with only 3 seconds of turn time.

It is similar to Hysteria, which has just 1 second of turn time, and its creation was only possible after a Beta update allowed much more flexible turn times. Like Hysteria, it features considerable use of the Jet Pack, which is infinite in number and provides the main transport method around the map. Beyond the extremely limited turn time and Jet Pack, however, very little is similar between the two schemes. Aerial provides a much wider selection of weapons, such as Girders and Mortars, since more time is available to make a selection. Whereas all weapon in Hysteria are unlimited (except the single Mad Cow), most weapons in Aerial are very limited in number, such as the Teleport. Sudden Death is switched off, and crates of all kinds have a chance of appearing.

Variations

A Sudden Death variation of Aerial exists, which sets the round time to 60 seconds and flooding to medium.

History

The description found in the TUS upload of the scheme by HHC in 2010 mentions that Aerial was "based on the PlayStation scheme 'Aerial', though thoroughly edited". Worms Armageddon was released for the PlayStation in November 1999.

The scheme has featured consistently in competitions, featuring in most years of the Worm Olympics from 2012 to when it ended in 2016, and in cups and tournaments hosted on The Ultimate Site between 2012 and 2018.
