From Worms Knowledge Base
Streaming Worms Armageddon is different to streamings of other games, mainly because of it's OpenGL based graphics. So the usual way of streaming games fails for Worms Armageddon. This article gives an instruction how to avoid the graphic problems, though the author limits oneself on own made experiences.
System requirements
- A computer powerful enough to emulate a virtual machine (at least 512MB of RAM)
- A few gigabytes of free space on your hard drive
- A copy of Windows 2000 or newer on a CD
- A stable internet connection for live streaming
Getting started
The key of the following instruction is to display Worms Armageddon in a Windows Mode to avoid the graphic conflicts by the OpenGL standards of Worms Armageddon.
Therefor you have to install VirtualBox. After finishing the setup you can optimize the settings of the display of your virtual computer:
Select your installed virtual system, go to "settings", then "display" and check the option "Enable the 3D Acceleration" and raise the Video Memory to the maximum of 128 MB. After you have finished that, start the machine, you will see a menu bar on the top. Click 'Devices' >> and run 'Install Guess Additions'. Follow the instructions. That settings will optimize the quality of your streamings.
Now, after you have installed Worms Armageddon on your virtual machine, we proceed with the actual issue of live-streaming. Please notice that there are a lot of ways and a lot of stream suppliers (own3d.tv, justin.tv, livestream.com, twitch.tv) so the following way will be only one exemple of hundred ways. For this way, we use XSplit Broadcaster and twitch.tv. Notice, you have to open each time an account to use the services of XSplit and twitch.tv.
After the setup of the broadcast programm, connect it with your twitch.tv account. Therefor go to XSplit menu bar >> 'Broadcast' >> 'Edit channels...' A new window will open, where you have to add your twitch.tv account.
Now every following step is simple: Run your before installed VirtualMachine, and start playing worms. Go to XSplit menu bar 'File' >> 'Add screen region'. Draw the red lines where your game is actually displayed. After that, you are prepared to share your game with others, just click in XSplit menu bar 'Broadcast' and select your twitch.tv channel. Job is done!
