Worms was originally released across multiple formats in 1995. Most prominent among the releases were the MS-DOS (floppy and CD-ROM), Macintosh, Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn releases, which are all based on the same core build. The Amiga and Amiga CD32 releases were also prominently marketed, although released at a time when the Amiga market was beginning to wane.

Common elements

  • The PC CD, PC floppy, Macintosh CD, Macintosh floppy, Amiga and Amiga CD32 versions all had identical boxes and manuals, with the manual specifically noting whether or not a feature, menu option or setting was platform-specific. The only difference between these versions was a label affixed to the front of the box identifying which platform it was for.
  • The floppy disk versions all had identical disk designs and specifically noted with platform they were for.
