Andy Davidson is the man who came up with the core concept of Worms. He was also responsible for programming the Amiga versions of Worms and Worms: The Directors Cut. He left Team17 shortly after the release of Worms Armageddon in 1999 due to creative differences, but returned in 2012 to work on new, non-Worms related projects. He left the company again following the release of Worms Revolution.
Andy continued working on updates to WormsDC after its release. In 2018 he posted a screenshot of the WormsDC title screen to Instagram with an updated version number of 1.5 and a build date of May 2nd, 2018. Davidson has indicated he plans to release this update in the near future.
