Andy Davidson is the original programmer and designer of Worms. He was responsible for programming the Amiga versions of Worms and Worms: The Directors Cut. He left Team17 shortly after the release of Worms Armageddon in 1999, feeling he enjoyed coding more than anything else, and having no desire to code on any system other than the Amiga. He returned briefly in 2012 to work on new, non-Worms related projects, but left the company again following the release of Worms Revolution.

Andy continued working on updates to WormsDC after its release. In 2018 he posted a screenshot of the WormsDC title screen to Instagram with an updated version number of 1.5 and a build date of May 2nd, 2018. In 2024, he announced that WormsDC 1.5 would be a free release in January 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series.
