Photofiltre

The Photofiltre instruction here does not reduce the image's color to 113 or below. May someone fix it? --Explorer09 12:24, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I suppose you'd need to contact the author of that section. If you find that Photofiltre is actually not capable of producing palettized PNG images, you may as well delete the section altogether. Also I find it odd that the author recommends using 256 colours - they were probably oblivious to the fact that W:A will re-dither or refuse to load their map in that case. --Vladimir 13:14, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I've updated the instruction, although I'm not the author. --Explorer09 17:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

German Authoring Instructions - Microsoft Paint

Just made that translation for a young german fellow on wmdb. hope it'll be of any further use. --doben 14:51, 22 March 2010 (UTC?)

Deutsche Authoren-Anleitung

Microsoft Paint

Safe-to-copy chunk?

Why is the w2lv chunk here is safe to copy while the waLV chunk is unsafe to copy? --Explorer09 01:27, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I believe the chunk name was changed to better conform to PNG standards. w2lv chunks were added by older W:A versions. --Vladimir 01:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Does this mean that the chunk name w2lv is deprecated? --Explorer09 01:44, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I created the old w2lv chunk name without realizing that the uppercase/lowercase status of the letters had meanings within the PNG specification. I made the last character in waLV uppercase (unsafe to copy) because part of this chunk is a random seed which controls where objects and holes are to be placed on the map. Editing the map is likely to change the effect of this seed. In retrospect, perhaps I should have chosen waLv because most of the contents of the chunk would retain their meaning with minor edits to a map. —Deadcode 02:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I read the PNG spec just now, and for the chunks that "retain their meaning with minor edits" as you said should be unsafe to copy. Because it will not work when the map has been major-edited. --Explorer09 02:33, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
