The Mortar is fired like the Bazooka, except that the power applied to the shot is fixed. The Mortar follows projectile motion and explodes on impact, releasing a handful of cluster bomblets that also explode on impact.

Tactics

  • When fired upwards at its steepest angle - which is not vertical - the Mortar will land a short distance away when it reaches the same altitude at which it was fired. This distance can be easily remembered, so this shot can be easily made with predictable results.
  • When fired directly down into the ground, the clusters will explode simultaneously on the worm. This suicide move can achieve a lot of injury on an enemy if the enemy is caught up in the explosion.

Criticisms, Problems and Weaknesses

  • The Mortar rarely achieves any significant damage by itself except in rare circumstances.
