This Installer (by MadEwokHerd), written in Python, can install WA and patch and update it for you automatically. It runs using the command prompt. There are no registry entries so uninstalling is as simple as deleting the files off your HDD. Go to http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/installguide-autoinstaller.php or http://forum.team17.com/showthread.php?t=30453 on the forums for more info. Download from either site.

(Up to Software)

The Automatic Installer (created in September 2006 by MadEwokHerd), written in Python, will automatically detect your WA disk, install the game to a given directory, and download and install the patch (if required) and latest update. The program makes no changes to the registry or the start menu, so uninstalling is as simple as deleting the directory it installed to.

Supported versions and systems

The current version of the program is known to work with the following operating systems:

  • Windows 98 SE
  • Windows XP
  • Windows XP 64-bit

...and the following WA versions:

  • Original European release
  • Original American release
  • Sold-Out release
  • Green Pepper release

(that is, everything except Trymedia)

...but not these systems:

  • Linux (Wine)
  • Mac OSX (Wine)
  • ReactOS

...or these WA versions:

  • Trymedia version (probably never will be supported)

Issues

Because the installer does not create registry entries, .wagame files (replays) will not open until you have run the game at least once after installing.

Future plans

Although the forum thread for the program details a list of future changes, there is no indication that the program is still being worked on.
